Huntington State Beach is 121 acres of gorgeous sandy beaches and ocean offering a wide array of aquatic activities. Drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors a year, Huntington Beach is a great place to learn to surf, fish, paddle board, kayak, snorkel, swim, or simply sunbathe. Additionally, there are also volleyball courts, basketball courts, and fire rings for cozy late night bonfires.
Fishing in Huntington Beach
Huntington State Beach is a popular spot for fishing. Simply get your rod and reel and you’ll be pulling up perch, corbina, croaker, cabezon and shovelnose guitarfish in no time. Don’t miss the wildly popular Grunion Run events occurring during the summer.

Bird Watching in Huntington Beach
Not many visitors realize that bird watching is also a popular activity in HB. Many endangered species like the California Least Tern and California Brown Pelican call the Snowy Plover Reserve home. The preserve is located at the southern end of the beach between the Talbert Channel and Santa Ana River. Across from the state beach is the 114-acre Huntington Beach Wetlands, operated by the Department of Fish and Game.
